Oh, how we chortled at the coincidence of programming Birdemic: Shock and Terror, just as a global pandemic was about to sweep the globe! Well, now things have got a bit more serious…
In light of the government’s announcement yesterday, we have decided to postpone March and April’s Bristol Bad Film Club screenings (Birdemic: Shock and Terror, No. 1 of the Secret Secret and Ryan’s Babe.
This decision was made with our partners at The Bristol Improv Theatre as, despite the shows selling out, we didn’t feel that cramming 110 people into the theatre was the smartest thing we could do at this point.
So… what does this mean for you lovely people that bought tickets?
Well, you have a couple of options:
1. REFUND
You can have a full refund. Simply email The Bristol Improv Theatre ([email protected]) and they’ll issue a full refund.
If they don’t hear from you, they will hold your ticket until such time as the show can be rescheduled.
2. DONATE
Alternatively, you could donate your ticket cost to the Improv Theatre.
As you may have seen, the Prime Minister’s announcement told people to stay away from cinemas, theatres and restaurants, but he didn’t make their closure mandatory.
As such, venue owners cannot fall back on financial protections, such as insurance, to receive compensation so they will need all the help they can during this time.
If you are able, we would ask that you consider donating your ticket money to the Improv Theatre. It may be just £5 to you, but for them it’s potentially hundreds fo pounds at a time when they have no idea when they will be able to reopen their doors.
If you are able, please donate to help us keep this organisation running. They will use every penny you give us to pay their staff and to keep supporting artists.
As for us? The Bristol Bad Film Club will return. Don’t worry, there’s no way we aren’t showing Birdemic: Shock and Terror at some point this year. And if you’re stuck in your house for a bit, why not buy our book to keep you occupied?
