SOLD OUT: BLASTFIGHTER (1984) – 20th April, Bristol Improv Theatre

Guns, guns, guns!

According to Quentin Tarantino, Blastfighter is the “best movie that legendary director Lamberto Bava (DEMONS) has ever called ‘action’ on.”

So it has that going for it.

Even if Tarantino wasn’t a fan, Blastfighter is a fantastic Italian-actioner that combines the best of Deliverance and First Blood, but with all the nuance of being shot in the face. Which happens a lot.

To quote 88 Films, who recently released a stunning HD release of the film, “this blistering bout of sweaty, sanguine-stained action-horror is one hell of an exciting ride – as an ex-jailbird, seeking little more than a quiet life in the wilderness, finds his scenic ideal invaded by some vicious redneck poachers.

In response, blood is spilled, bullets are fired and the real prey becomes man!”

That description doesn’t even mention the fact that the film includes a custom made shotgun that comes fully stocked with enough tricked out bullets that would make James Bond jealous.

Starring a cast of Italian genre icons, including Michael Sopkiw (MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY), Valentina Forte (CUT AND RUN) and George Eastman (ANTHROPHAGUS), Bristol Bad Film Club is proud to be showing this newly remastered HD version of the film –  uncut and uncensored!

Location: Bristol Improv Theatre, 50 St Paul’s Rd, Bristol BS8 1LP, UK

A former policeman sets out to unleash violent vengeance upon deer poachers when they attack his long lost daughter.

“Every action hero should have an awesome name like Tiger; never mind the golfer, this is the man you should really be rooting for. He has a handlebar mustache of retribution and looks a little like Ned Flanders gone crazy. “ Action Elite

“This is Lamberto Bava trying to make First Blood with a dash of Walking Tall. He makes a movie about a man pushed too far by locals who goes insane and kills them one by one, using the terrain to exact his revenge. Sound familiar? I honestly expected Tiger to have a long-winded, unintelligible soliloquy about Vietnam and whose war it really was.” Grindhouse Database

“Once the Spaz-12 and its wonderful array of crazy bullets comes out, it’s bye-bye bad guys in some of the most insane kills ever committed to celluloid…” Nerdly
